Amorn - or Amon - Mansion (the Thai pronounciation is somewhere between the two) is a locally run guesthouse. The owner is the former local council member for Ao Nang - and this is presumably why they got away with building a 5 storey block so close to the beach. Guests reap the benefits of these connections, however, as most of the simply furnished rooms come with a lovely sea view - a rare thing in Ao Nang these days.
All rooms come with double bed only, are air-conditioned and have TV and fridge as standard. They are very clean but smaller than average, with not much room around the bed, though there is still place for a single wardrobe, bed-side tables and a table and chair. Each room also has a small outdoor balcony with seating area. The ensuite bathroom has a proper hot water shower (not an electric heater) and stone floors. A nice touch is that in every room we went into (on an unannounced visit), had the white bedspread and bathroom decorated with pretty pink orchids. Another thoughtful, and more practical addition is the use of proper blackout curtains, which will stop you being woken up by strong sunlight in the morning.
The layout of the guesthouse is fairly standard: stairs lead up to wide, brightly lit hallways, with the rooms situated off this. Each door is quite heavy, and makes a sound loud enough to be disturbing when your neighbours are in and out all the time. But other than that, the guesthouse is fairly quiet. The restaurant, serving standard fare, is on the ground floor, along with the reception and a couple of computers offering internet access. There is a pleasant roof terrace, from which there are excellent views of the islands and over to Railay.
Amorn Mansion is up on the hill (Soi 6), just off the main beach road. Shops, restaurants and bars are only steps away, while the beach is a 150m stroll, making Amorn one of the best value hotels in the often over-priced beach front area.

Reservation Policy
Prices are given in Thai Baht and are per room per night. Breakfast for two people is also included in the price during November - April only. Please note that this is a Muslim-run resort so no pork products will be served for breakfast. No extra beds available, as the rooms are too small.
Cancellation Policy
Amon Mansion will charge the following cancellation penalties:
- Cancellation more than 15 days before check in: no charge.
- Cancellation less than 15 days before check in, or early check out: one night's stay
- No-show: no refund.
Please note than following cancellation, any refund due under the hotel policy above will be subject to a processing charge of 5% of refund value + 350 THB to cover bank costs.
Amendments to any booking (e.g. change of dates, extension of stay) that do not require a refund may be made free of charge.
