Baan Sawan Resort: Pictures, Reviews and Rates

Baan Sawan Resort is a group of managed private homes located in a quiet residential area of Klong Haeng Village. Boasting spacious grounds and a big swimming pool (larger than many hotels!), it would make ideal accommodation for families or groups of friends who perhaps know Krabi already, or are planning on a relaxing break in the sun with minimal excursions.

There are nine houses in total (and nine more bungalows planned for the 2011 - 12 season), each of 90sqm. Because they were custom-built, each is laid out according to the owners' needs, so some have 2 and some have 3 bedrooms - which in turn determines the size of the open plan living / dining / kitchen area. Furniture and decor have also been individually chosen, but all have stuck to a modern Thai style theme with dark wood, light tiled floors and rich accent colours. Each house also has a large covered terrace for outdoor dining. Note: there is no television in any of the houses, so guests will need to bring their own laptop to watch DVDs etc.

As each house has different bedding available (twin, double, bunk and sofa beds are all possibilities!), when booking, please send your prefered sleeping arrangements so that we can determine the most suitable unit for you. All bedrooms are air conditioned. The maximum number of guests in any one house is 8, though this will probably feel cramped - especially with only one bathroom in each house.

The advantages of Baan Sawan over conventional hotels or private villa rental (other than the much lower cost) can be seen immediately on arrival: the atmosphere is laid back and convivial - each family has its own private house, but children can make friends and have others to play with in the pool. There is a reception area with a minimart, as well as a Thai massage pavilion and pool bar serving drinks and snacks (a full service restaurant is planned for 2011). The staff can arrange tours and excursions as with any hotel; and there is a complimentary resort tuk-tuk service for those who wish to shop or dine on Ao Nang beach front.

Baan Sawan is one of the few all-round family holiday destinations on mainland Krabi (another would be the nearby Nadivana Serviced Apartments): though relatively far from the beach, it offers a relaxing (because of both the space and the on-site services) and above all affordable holiday for those who have already spent a lot of money on flights.
