Krabi Cha Wan Resort: Pictures, Reviews and Rates

Cha Wan Resort is an attractive Thai-style resort, newly built on the "five-star street" next to Pavilion Queen's Bay and Thai Village Resorts. Unlike these two, however, the setting is small and intimate, with only 10 rooms arranged in tall, 2 storey buildings with high Thai roofs around a two level swimming pool. The overall plot of land is fairly small, but it has been designed nicely, with lots of interesting corners and angles that give many perspectives on the layout.

The rooms - or suites as they are called - are huge: the bathroom alone is 15sqm! Though strangely there is only one sink in all this space, yet the wide counter seems to be crying out for two. All bathrooms feature a bathtub and a walk-in rain shower and floors and counters are all marble. A nice touch is that there is an entirely separate room for the toilet, which means it is available when your room mate is taking a shower.

Back to the huge bedrooms, though: again, these are very high quality, with gleaming teakwood floors, wood panelling on the walls and ceilings and plenty of amenities, as follows:

The rooms are all fairly similar, though they have a slightly different layout depending on the floor. The ground floor rooms have one large terrace equipped with a dining table (breakfast can be taken in room) and lounge chairs that overlook a semi-private garden area with lotus pool. The upper floor rooms have the same terrace, plus one more balcony leading off the bedroom.

There is a small restaurant and bar area, though you are unlikely to eat more than breakfast here; there are several good restaurants within a 200m walk, and even more if you carry on down to the beachfront in Ao Nang (a further 400m or so). Cha Wan also offers the usual activities and tours of the area. Staff are generally accomodating and cheerful. Off-road parking is available - though one possible downside of the resort overall is the proximity to the road, which can get noisy during the day only. There are also no rooms with a seaview.
