The Krabi Sands Resort is a pretty bungalow development straddling the main thoroughfare along Klong Muang beach. The resort restaurant, The Beach House, opens out directly onto the sand, while the accommodation and pool is on the other side of the street in a private garden bounded by the National Park.
The Krabi Sands markets itself as being both distant and distinct from the crowd. Tranquility and individual accommodation can actually be found throughout this area (see our report on Klong Muang). The Krabi Sands is, however, very different from the five-star, five-figure resorts typically found here - and is perhaps the only high quality, yet affordable accommodation available in this particular corner of Krabi.
As with so many of the resorts we like, the personality of the owners gives the place a unique style - in this case, the perfectionists Mark and Ooy, who have toiled over every last detail, from the biodiversity of the pristinely manicured garden, to the type of stone used for the different designs on each bungalow floor. Materials used have been ecologically sourced (teakwood furniture is from managed plantations); and the large, natural-shaped pool is filled with low-salt water and is chlorine-free.
The couple are refreshingly unbiased in their opinions and, if asked, will give guests the full benefit of their knowledge of the Krabi area - unlike in many resorts in Klong Muang, you are actually encouraged to go out and explore! With its excellent restaurant, The Krabi Sands would be a good base for those who want a quiet holiday with active days and early nights. Wi-Fi internet access is also available throughout the resort complex.
Rooms
All accommodation is in similar bungalow-style houses, with bedroom, bathroom and outdoor terrace. The 26 rooms (18 double, 8 twin) are situated around the pool and in the garden. Some rooms have a sea view. Bear in mind, though, that this is also a road view: those wishing greater privacy may prefer rooms overlooking the green hills at the back of the resort.
Rooms are spacious and furnished to a high standard, with solid wood furniture, king-sized beds and quality natural fabrics. Each features an individual design on the polished stone floors. Bathrooms come with hot water power shower (no bathtub).
Thai or European-style breakfast is served in the beach restaurant (buffet in high season, cooked to order in low seaon) and is included in the price of all rooms.

Reservation Policy
Prices are per room per night, based on 2 people sharing and include breakfast, service tax and VAT. Peak season reservation: minimum stay 3 nights.
Family policy Maximum occupancy per room is 2 adults and 2 children, or 3 adults.
One child under 12 sharing parents' bed free. Optional extra mattress available: 500 baht.
Third adult, child 12 years and up, or second child under 12 years will be charged at 500 baht (includes extra mattress if required).
Extra breakfast per adult and child 12 years and up 200 baht, per child under 12 years 100 baht.
Cancellation Policy
The Krabi Sands Resort will charge the following cancellation penalties:
- Cancellation or early check out notified to resort more than 30 days before arrival: no charge.
- Cancellation or early check out notified less 30 days but more than 15 days before arrival: one night's stay.
- Cancellation less than 15 days before arrival, or no show: no refund will be given.
Please note than following cancellation, any refund due under the hotel policy above will be subject to a processing charge of 5% of refund value + 350 THB to cover bank costs.
Amendments to any booking (e.g. change of dates, extension of stay) that do not require a refund may be made free of charge.
