Lai Thai Resort is a small, family-run resort, consisting of twenty bungalows, set in a tropical garden overlooking the magnificent cliffs of Ao Nang Beach. When it opened 12 years ago, the resort was considered to be 'out of town'; however, with the growth of Ao Nang, it is now "only" 500 metres away from the beach - a good location which ensures peace and quiet at night, with easy access to the beach and its amenities.

The star feature of Lai Thai Resort is its stunning 20-metre, black-tiled swimming pool, large enough to reflect perfectly the scenery - as well as do proper lengths! All the bungalows are set around this central pool, the deluxe bungalows to the sides and the standard bungalows to the rear.

Both categories of room are the same size - of generous proportions - with a small outdoor terrace. Both are also tiled throughout and similarly furnished with handcrafted wooden objects and bedheads from the north of Thailand. All have double beds only.

The standard bungalows come in pairs (semi-detached), making them ideal for families sharing two rooms. They have a hot water shower, aircon, electronic key card, mini bar with mini refrigerator, 14" TV with satellite channels and an electronic safe. The deluxe bungalows are stand-alone and have all these facilities, plus a bathtub, silk bathrobes, complimentary drinking water and a hot water kettle with tea and coffee service. The TV (19") and refrigerator are also both larger and the rooms feel a little more airy as they have vaulted ceilings, with ceiling fans.

Lai Thai Resort has its own restaurant, the Lanna, which offers outdoor and indoor seating, as well as a bar and popular barbecue evenings during high season. There's also a tour counter, gift shop and business centre with a meeting room and internet access.
