Srisuksant Resort: Pictures, Reviews and Rates

In a place where real bargains are increasingly hard to find, we've got one for you! Srisuksant (pronounced 'See - sook - sen') is a medium-sized resort on the rapidly developing stretch of land known as Klong Haeng or Nopparat Thara. Its prime location directly on the beach road at the Ao Nang end means you have two beaches, plus all the nightlife and shopping of Ao Nang within a ten minute stroll (see map).

The rooms themselves are light, airy and nicely appointed, with an emphasis on traditional Thai textiles and designs in tasteful, earthy tones. In short, worthy of a much higher price tag! There is also not one, but two swimming pools, as Srisuksant bought the hotel next door in 2004 and converted it into its new 'Villa wing'.

Facilities at the resort include a massage area, conference facilities, a private function room and catering services for pool parties. Service is fairly standard for Krabi, with the best intentions but limited English and a charming lack of experience; however, if all you require from staff is your room key, you will never notice. Srisuksant is a good all-rounder, a good value choice for those who want quality on a budget.

Rooms
There are 40 rooms in the main building, with a mixture of double and twin beds. Standard rooms are on the ground floor and Superior rooms are on the three upper floors, with balconies and sea view (this is a loose interpretation: some views are restricted; and none of the rooms actually face the sea - it can be seen to the right or left hand side of your balcony only).

All rooms are average-sized but simple touches and a nice attention to detail make them look very appealing. Furniture and textiles are made of high-quality natural materials: wood; rattan; cotton; silk. Bathrooms are tiled and all have hot water and a bathtub and shower.

The 24 rooms in the one-storey 'Villa wing' are actually very similar to those in the main building, both in furnishing and facilities. Superior rooms are on the ground floor and Deluxe on the first floor. There is perhaps slightly more money spent on decor with a cotton canopy over the beds. The main advantage of staying here seems to be that buildings in this 'wing' are small and have their own entrance - guests thus don't have to walk down a corridor to get to their room, which can feel more private.
