Srisuksant Resort: Pictures, Reviews and Rates

Srisuksant (pronounced 'See - sook - san') is a medium-sized resort on the rapidly developing stretch of land known as Klong Haeng or Nopparat Thara. Its prime location directly on the beach road at the Ao Nang end means you have two beaches, plus all the nightlife and shopping of Ao Nang within a ten minute stroll (see map). The boat pier for Railay and day trips to the local islands is less than 100m away.

The rooms themselves are light, airy and nicely appointed, with an emphasis on traditional Thai textiles and designs in tasteful, earthy tones. There is also not one, but two swimming pools, as Srisuksant has recently (December 2010) completed a new wing of around 70 rooms, some of which have direct access to the new pool and some which have that increasingly rare feature in Krabi: an unimpeded sea view. There is a relatively large children's pool alongside the main swimming pool.

Facilities at the resort include a massage area, conference facilities, a private function room and catering services for pool parties. Service is fairly standard for Krabi, with the best intentions but limited English and a charming lack of experience; however, if all you require from staff is your room key, you will never notice. Srisuksant is a good all-rounder, a good value choice for those who want comfort on a budget.

Rooms
There are 40 rooms in the original building (Wing A), with a mixture of double and twin beds. Superior rooms are on the ground floor and Superior Sea Breeze rooms are on the three upper floors, with balconies and a partial sea view (none of the rooms actually face the sea - it can be seen to the right or left hand side of your balcony only).

All rooms are average-sized but simple touches and a nice attention to detail make them look very appealing. Furniture and textiles are made of high-quality natural materials: wood; rattan; cotton; silk. Bathrooms are tiled and all have hot water and a bathtub and shower.

The new block is an L-shaped, 3 storey building (Wings B and C) facing the Andaman Sea. The front-facing rooms are the ones to book here. As the hotel is located directly on the beach road, the Deluxe Sea View rooms really do have a beautiful view over the islands, as well as the spectacular sunsets that Krabi offers; while the ground floor Pool Access rooms offer the opportunity to jump straight from your balcony into the pool. Parents of young children please note: these rooms offer the opportunity to jump straight from your balcony into the pool (no barrier or gate).

With the exception of the Deluxe Plus rooms (see below), all rooms in the new block are - bar minor cosmetic differences - identical inside, and are considerably larger than those in the older block. The other categories here, Grand Superior (Wing C) and Deluxe (Wing B), are located at the rear of the building, with a view over the mountains and rooftops of Ao Nang. All rooms in the new building come with one double or two twin single beds. There is also an additional single "daybed" in every room, that can be used as a sofa or as an extra bed for a third person (supplement applied). Bathrooms are modern and have a large, walk-in rain shower (no bathtub). A few of the Grand Superior and Deluxe rooms can be booked as connecting pairs (with an interior door).

The two Deluxe Plus rooms are mini-suites - double sized rooms with a seating area, though in all other respects are the same as the other rooms. These rooms offer the possibility of adding 2 extra beds and creating a family room with still enough space to move around. Both rooms are located at the back of the building (no sea view).
