As the low or green season in Krabi gets into full swing, more and more construction work is being started in Ao Nang. Indeed, the so-called “McDonald’s” side of the beach resembles one giant construction site, with the whole footpath torn up, in order to move all electric and phone cables underground, as well as numerous shop units gutted and being redone (these are all rentals and often change hands after the main high season ends).
Several other larger building sites line the road down to the beach, starting from an 80 unit condominium block and passing by several projects to build multi-storey shop units.
Our advice to people booking holidays in Krabi this low season (summer 2013) would be to book hotels over on the other side of Ao Nang Beach, or on the beachfront, so that they will not be disturbed by dust and noise.
