Amorn – or Amon – Mansion (the Thai pronounciation is somewhere between the two) is a locally-owned, 5 storey guesthouse, located on a quiet side street less than 200m from the beach.
The layout of the guesthouse is fairly standard: stairs lead up to wide, brightly lit hallways, with rooms situated off this. All rooms have a balcony and though they are below average size, they do come with the standard amenities: air-conditioning, fridge, TV and hot water shower, as well as useful black-out curtains.
The restaurant, serving standard fare, is on the ground floor, along with the reception and a couple of computers offering internet access. There is a pleasant roof terrace, from which there are excellent views of the islands and over to Railay. Some superior rooms on the upper floors also come with this lovely sea view – a rare thing in Ao Nang these days. The family running the guesthouse are Ao Nang natives and they are friendly and very helpful.
The guesthouse is well-located for the beach and all the cheap dining options on this side of the beach road.
