Baan Andaman is a pleasant, service oriented guesthouse on the outskirts of Krabi Town. The owners have years of experience dealing with foreign tourists so everything is fine tuned – from onward ferry tickets to cigarette lighters and Thai sim cards, they have thought of everything.
There are 16 rooms in a standard 3 storey “shophouse” block (no lift), though considerable effort has been put into the decor and furnishing. Some parts of the hotel are starting to show wear and tear but nothing to seriously complain about at these prices.
In fact, guests here get quite a good deal these days, as they now have free access to the newly opened sister hotel, Dee Andaman, only a few metres away, with its pool and rooftop bar.
Standard rooms are the cheapest, and darkest, though otherwise are perfectly acceptable. Superior gets you French windows and a balcony, while Deluxe is the same room with a chair and table set. These are the only rooms to offer twin beds – standard and superior are double only.
The downstairs lobby doubles up as a restaurant and general hang out place – there are board games and a small library of books left by other guests – and overall Baan Andaman has a nice friendly feel, whether you are passing through or staying long term.
There is nothing really within easy walking distance of Baan Andaman: the nearest eateries are about 10 minutes away on foot – either up or down a steep hill. The hotel offers a shuttle service to the centre of town, however, should you wish to go shopping or visit the markets.
