Dee Andaman Boutique Hotel is one of the new wave of modern Thai hotels opening up in town. Although it’s nice enough for a long stay, most people will find it a great place to bed down for the night after a long haul flight and then onward travel to Phi Phi, Lanta or elsewhere.
The 34 rooms are housed in 2 multi-storey blocks, a few minutes out of the town centre near the riverside, so perfect for those who just want to relax, have some food and sleep. Those who plan on staying longer may wish to look a little closer to town, though staff are happy to help organise motorbike rental and sightseeing excursions. There is a small swimming pool and lovely rooftop restaurant and bar, with partial sea and mountain views.
Rooms are extremely comfortable, going above and beyond the standard 3* facilities with a/c, fridge, 32″ LCD TV with foreign channels and DVD player, phone, wi-fi, digital safe, hairdryer, kettle, bathrobes; they also boast stylish contemporary Asian decor and all have balconies. The 28sqm Superior rooms come with double (king size) bed only; the slightly larger Deluxe rooms (33 – 35 sqm) offer the option of double or twin beds, as well as a daybed. Bathrooms have hot water shower only, no bathtub. Some units come as connecting pairs.
For families, there is one 64 sqm suite, consisting of 2 connecting bedrooms – each with their own 40″ TV to avoid fights! – and a single bathroom. Aside from the larger TVs, facilities are the same as in other rooms.
There is nothing really within easy walking distance of Dee Andaman Hotel: the nearest eateries are about 10 minutes away on foot – either up or down a steep hill. However, as a Krabi stopover hotel, it really can’t be beaten for service, cleanliness and comfort.
