Dream Valley Resort was one of the first bungalow operations to open in Ton Sai, and is owned by a local Ao Nang family. Stretching back up the pleasant green hillside from the main walkway behind the beach, it offers a wide range of accommodation, including a new range of “Railay Beach” quality rooms, though for half the year you will only be able to use these facilities in the evening and early morning, due to the generated power. 24 hour electricity in room is provided only during the months of November to April.
Accommodation at Dream Valley is clean and well-maintained, as are the garden and restaurant areas, and the resort represents a good value for money, mid-range choice if you plan to stay in Ton Sai beach. It is also the only resort in Ton Sai to offer a swimming pool. All rooms are quiet, even during the night, as the generator is located several hundred metres away down the hill.
Though the hotel is now attracting a new flashpacker clientele, many who stay at Dream Valley are still climbers (couples, friends and solo travellers), so it is a good place to meet people and hang out if you are visiting Ton Sai for this reason.
Because the resort has been expanded over the years, there are several different room categories. We explain them below. For those who have visited the resort before, the oldest type of rooms – bamboo huts – are not available for advance booking, but are reserved for walk-in guests only.
Standard: small wooden bungalow (16sqm) with outdoor terrace (7sqm), wood floors, ceiling fan and semi-open air bathroom (cold water shower & flushing toilet). Note: following a few recent complaints from guests we would recommend the deluxe fan category over the standard rooms, which are apparently in need of refurbishment.
Deluxe: a spacious wooden bungalow (30sqm), with extra large terrace and sun deck (15sqm), nice furniture, TV, and smart bathroom with glass sink and hot water “rain” shower (large shower head). Fan only, no air con.
Air con bungalows:
Superior: concrete bungalow (23sqm) with a large picture window and terrace. Air conditioning unit, hot water shower and TV. Twin rooms offer mattresses on a raised platform and a smaller bathroom; double rooms have a proper bed and a slightly larger bathroom.
Deluxe Garden View: newer rooms (30sqm) located towards the back of the resort with stunning cliff views. Ground floor and upper floor, tiled throughout, with granite bathroom, hot water “rain” shower, TV, fridge and air conditioning. Wood panelling behind bed. Double beds only.
Deluxe Pool View Bungalow: these are free standing units (30sqm) close to the pool area, with polished wood floors and the same style concrete bathroom as the Pool View rooms. In-room TV, fridge, safe, hairdryer, kettle and air conditioning. Double beds only.
Air con rooms:
Around the new pool area are 3 blocks of rooms, with upper and lower floors. Most of these are classed as Deluxe Pool View. Four of them, on the ground floor, have direct access to the swimming pool, so are sold as the premium Deluxe Pool Access rooms. Inside, all rooms are identical. Each is 30sqm, with a small balcony or terrace overlooking the mountains and pool. Tiled throughout, they feature an “industrial chic” bare concrete bathroom with walk in shower. In-room TV, fridge, safe, hairdryer, kettle and air conditioning. Double or twin beds available.
