Railay Village Resort & Spa is under the same ownership as Somkiet Buri Resort in Ao Nang, and this more recent property has taken the trademark Somkiet style (lush garden, natural materials) to a new level.
Railey Village is now competing with Railay Bay Resort for the 4-star crowd, with one great advantage: its size. This smaller, 50 room resort has a more intimate atmosphere than Railay Bay (though the rooms themselves are slightly smaller) and it feels less package-touristy. The rooms are beautifully decorated in contemporary Thai style with polished wood – the vaulted ceilings of the Jacuzzi Villas in particular are very nice – and two large swimming pools means neither will feel crowded.
If we had to choose between the Railay Bay Resort Privacy Cottages and the Railay Village Jacuzzi Villas, we would pick the latter, despite the slightly higher price tag. In general, we would recommend Railay Village for a honeymoon, or getaway break for couples – it’s definitely a resort for grown-ups, though children are also welcome.
There are 25 Jacuzzi Villas (comprising a 50 sqm bedroom suite, a gazebo of 5 sqm, and a private outdoor Jacuzzi), plus six 2-storey units containing the deluxe pool view rooms (24 in total). Each pool view block has 4 guest rooms and each floor has 2 connecting rooms. Each room has a bedroom of 44 sqm and an 8sqm balcony. Lower floors enjoy direct pool access.
