Koh Jum and Koh Siboya are two neighbouring islands located between Krabi Town and Koh Lanta. They are actually very close to the Krabi mainland (they are located a few kilometres south of Krabi Town) but for some reason, they are quite difficult to get to – especially out of season.
There are basic longtail boat services taking foot passengers and motorcycles from the pier at Laem Kruat to the villages of Ko Jum and Ko Pu on Jum Island; as well as to Ko Siboya village. You can also take a longtail boat from Laem Hin pier at the end of Had Yao (Long Beach) to Ko Siboya only. The boats from both piers run from early morning to 6pm, year round.
To get to either of these mainland piers you will need to take a local bus from Krabi Town, or a taxi; it is a journey of around 40km, going via Neua Klong town (no need to change buses). From the mainland beach areas, factor in around 40 minutes to an hour’s drive.
A much easier route to Koh Jum available during November to April only is direct from Krabi Town, on the daily passenger ferry to Ko Lanta. The boats stop offshore and the resorts send longtail boats to collect alighting passengers. They also stop on the way back from Ko Lanta to Krabi Town. Ko Lanta ferry schedules >>
Once on the island, you can rent a motorbike or bicycle, or simply get around on foot. Longtail boats are available for charter for fishing or island-hopping, it is best to ask in your resort for the best deals.
