A new exhibit entitled “The Spirit of ASEAN” will open at the Krabi Contemporary Art Museum in town on May 9.
The “South Sea” group of Thai artists, in collaboration with peers from Malaysia, have curated a show of more than 60 works of painting and mixed media.
From the catalogue: “like body and soul that can’t be divided, the countries in ASEAN can’t be separated from the spirit of ASEAN. The spirit of ASEAN aesthetics means the value rising from the difference because among the varieties, it still has the unity and the understanding and the recognition will be important and necessary for living together as ASEAN. The artists, as the creators, have the freedom to create the valuable aesthetics, so the works of ASEAN artists in this exhibition are the rising of many flowers in the field which have various taste, smell, and sound but they still stand under the shadow of the same land.”
The grand opening takes place at 4pm on May 9, and is open to the public. The show will run until the end of the month. Entrance is free, so do consider a visit if you will be in town: the gallery is located directly opposite the old Wat Kaew Grovaram temple on Issara Road.
Opening times: Tue – Sun, 10am – 5pm. Closed Mondays.
